An Anchor for Today. Resilience for Tomorrow.
Building the resilience of children and youth living through war, uncertainty, and prolonged adversity.
Anchors of Resilience was established at the initiative of the Weizmann Institute of Science and its President, Prof. Alon Chen, in response to the continuing impact of war and prolonged emergency conditions on children and youth in Israel.
With the general and academic leadership of Prof. Orit Nuttman-Shwartz, the organization develops and implements evidence-informed, school-based prevention and early-intervention programs designed to strengthen resilience within children's everyday environments. Since 2024, our flagship Ogen (Anchor) Program has worked within schools and communities to strengthen children's social, emotional, and adaptive capacities through meaningful relationships, structured learning, and sustained support.

Responding to Adversity. Building Resilience.
Children growing up during prolonged emergencies need more than responses to moments of crisis. They need stable relationships, supportive environments, and opportunities to develop skills that help them navigate uncertainty over time.
Anchors of Resilience provides a universal, resilience-informed psycho-educational approach directly within schools.
Through our distinctive mentoring model, university students from health, education, social welfare, and related fields become trained and supported mentors within the communities where they study and live.
Our approach connects the child, classroom, school, family, and community within a shared resilience-building framework.

Our Vision: Connections That Build Resilience
We envision communities in which every child has access to meaningful relationships, supportive adults, and practical tools for coping and adaptation - even during prolonged periods of crisis.
The Ogen Program combines universal classroom-based activities with group and individual mentoring, supported by professional training, supervision, and collaboration with school teams and communities.
Individual and Group Mentoring
University students in health, education, social welfare, and related fields serve as trained “big brothers and sisters,” providing consistent support within schools and communities
Social and Emotional Learning
Age-appropriate, structured activities help children develop skills for emotional regulation, coping, connection, problem-solving, and adaptation
A Community-Wide Support System
We work with educators, parents, professionals, and community partners to strengthen the network surrounding each child
Where We Operate
Anchors of Resilience works with elementary and middle schools in communities affected by prolonged exposure to war and emergency conditions.
